I’m a health coach who specializes in making mindful healthy habits. And, I’ll be honest with you, there have been times when I have struggled to make healthier choices in life. I have been educating myself for well over a decade about all things “Wellness,” even before it was a buzzword. My education has given me the self awareness that has allowed me to make peace with my body, my relationship with food and help with my anxiety.
I was an athletic kid with endless energy but I was still overweight. Being overweight shaped the relationship I had with my body growing up. I felt ashamed and self conscious. Early on I lacked the nutritional education and support that I would later on gain as an adult to implement real lasting changes. In contrast, my fitness education came early on because of an ACL and meniscus tear in high school. I needed surgery and rehab but also began strength training in the gym. I fell in love with feeling strong then and there!
Becoming a coach opened my eyes to the ways in which I’d been making my health journey harder on myself. I began to listen to the ways in which I would criticize my body. I became curious about disordered eating and my restrictive eating habits. I became mindful of the way I trained my body, focusing on training for longevity rather than just the summer body. I learned the effort it takes to make lifestyle changes, to make the necessary steps out of depression or injury and come out stronger. The combination of mindset and determination to surpass your setbacks. I’ve learned our body is telling us what it needs on a daily basis.
